Ascend and raze to the earth; unhinged and railing since birth. And they'll always wonder "Where's your heart?"
I will sink this blade.
Rescind and fall to the earth broken and questioning your worth. And you'll always wonder "Where's you heart?"
I will sink this blade into your heart.

The Ringing

We've traveled far, my oldest friend, and fallen out beyond the mend. Although you're not awake, I can feel you glaring through my skull. To think you loved me once is so surreal in retrospect. Unable to circumvent.
Although you broke my will, I still loved you and set out for the hills to blindly follow. Which left me hollow after all these years, and I can still hear your words ringing in my ears.

Dead Stars Lit Our Path

Windswept feathers of an albatross, gizzard ripe with wine. Phantom vipers of all loves lost lie in the reeds of time. Flaxen tissues strangle life below, gliding and slicing their ballet in the slithering ether's to and fro like canaries carry tunes away.
A path unwinds. Then hands, entwined, fell from the sullen skies...and they were mine.
Then all was lost.
How old you've grown! How brittle your bones! Stake your claim, the earth your home. Ascend your throne.
How staid and pale! How gaunt and frail! Waste away, you tried and failed. The final nail.

We came as kings: A scourge from the sea.
The night fell slowly across your wrists. All of your weight in gold... And your light spilled from the inside of silvered hymns and tore us all limb from limb.
Elated and bright.

You've been waiting all your life, slow rotting from inside. Drift away and twist the knife. You've been dying since first light.
The pain and sorry in this life comes from knowing that your light is preordained not to survive: The gift of knowing it's finite.

Dead Sun Rising Chicago, Illinois
Dead Sun Rising is a post metal band from Chicago consisting of Eric Carley (guitar / vocals), Nick Willis (bass), and Jeff Dale (drums). We work really hard at not being a metal band but kind of still are. I mean we do love skulls and olde englishe fonts so we're not doing ourselves any favors there but, still...we try sometimes. ... more
